The Hui nationality has a population of 8,602,978, which is a relative large nationality in China. Most Hui people live in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The distribution of the Hui nationality is charactered as concentrating in a small area and scattering in a large region. In the mainland of China, most Hui people live with Han people; while in the border region of China, the Hui nationality is mainly resident with local minorities. As Hui people mainly distribute along the traffic pathway between rivers (or oceans) and lands, this nationality has a more developed economy and culture level.
Most Hui people are engaged in farming. Some of them also deal with stockbreeding and handicraft industry. Besides, Hui people also make living on business, esp. business on foods.
